Hixson Blog

Hi my name is Mackenzie Bartusek.  I am the 2010 Hixson scholar of Mitchell County.  After reading the list I discovered some things that I found were very true and others that I didn't agree with so much, but I guess that is why I'm posting this blog, to tell you what I think about them.
I agree with number two on the list, email is just too slow, and they seldom ever use snail mail. People don't ever send letters unless for some reason they can't get ahold of you through the computer or phone.  It is really sad because a letter is a very personable way to show that you thinking of someone. Number eighteen said, Fergie is a pop singer, not a princess.  I don't really care for her, so i definitely agree with this.  I just think people talk her up too much.  I agree with number thirty-four which said, "Assisted Living” has always been replacing nursing homes, while Hospice has always offered an alternative to the hospital.  My grandpa was in hospice and I know that the people who worked there at the time were very nice to him and they also helped my grandma through the process.  I'm very thankful that they were there to help our family.
I don't agree with number fourty-seven that said, children have always been trying to divorce their parents.  Children never want their parents to get divorced.  It makes everything so much harder for them and I don't think anyone would wish that their parents were divorced.  I also don't agree with number sixty-four that he U.S, Canada, and Mexico have always agreed to trade freely.  I'm sure that not every trade has gone smoothly and I'm sure they sometimes regret trading with eachother.  I don't really care about the other ones on the list, those were just the ones that caught my attention.
The list was definitely very interesting.  I think that the people who put it together already had their own views on the different sentences in the list.  I found that it really made me think about what I personally thought of each one, but there also were some that I didn't think made much since, but that's just me.
